“The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire.” – Field Marshal Ferdinand Foch
What makes successful people, well, successful? What makes them realize things almost effortlessly? Where do they get their energy from? What makes them stay up late at night and wake up early the next day feeling invigorated? It’s not something you buy from a store. What makes successful people do what they do is called passion. However, it’s not just some regular passion that they possess. The kind of passion they possess is burning and consuming.
What is passion? How important is it in our pursuit for excellence and success? Read the rest of this entry »

It’s been quite a week. I’ve been busy being involved in sales and products seminar in my company. Can’t wait to see how things will go with my present offline endeavors. I can’t wait to put what I’ve learned from all the personal development and success resources I came across with during the past three months.
Anyway, since I can’t get around that much to write quality success and personal development posts, we’ll just do a rundown for now of what we have so far here at Practical Motivations and highlight some of the best success posts. Read the rest of this entry »

Are your actions towards achieving your goal really congruent with your belief? Is your conviction consistent with your life’s mission and goals? If not then it’s time to work on your awareness of what you are truly capable of doing. It’s time to show the world what you are really made of.

Poverty is spreading all over the world. But today, you have the power to make a difference starting with yourself. Your dreams and goals need not suffer from poverty. Instead, let your dreams live on and make things happen. It seems that the power of dreams can’t be emphasized enough. Dreams are powerful ingredients for successful goal-setting and alleviating poverty. Here’s another post on why dreams must be nurtured that I have written early last year for my older blog Charlemagne’s Main.
Nurture Your Dreams
Do something. If it doesn’t work, do something else. No idea is too crazy. Jim Hightower, The New York Times, March 9, 1986

“Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail.” Charles F. Kettering
Belief – what is it? How does it impact your life? Can you buy belief over the counter? No, is the answer to the last question. It certainly is free but is actually disposable.
Belief is such a powerful force within us. It may make or break us. It is what we accept as truths born out of perception and acceptance. It is formed from what we see, hear or feel. It is what holds religious organizations strong and steadfast. The tricky part of belief is having to believe in something that has no proof of reality yet. Read the rest of this entry »

“The ability to sell the family parrot to the town gossip without fear.” (Author unknown)
I was thinking about this lately and I realized that prior to writing a post on goal-setting such as this, this and this, I should have written something about character first. After all, character is the foundation of our being. It is, in the words of D L Moody, “Who we are when no one is looking”. Well, it doesn’t really matter now, does it?

The title says it all. Welcome to Practical Motivations and once again thanks for the support you gave for Practical Way. But before anything else, I would like to acknowledge my very good friend’s precious help, Ruben Licera, Jr. of Pinoyworld.org, for making this transformation possible and quick with his extraordinary expertise. He was the very same person who made our wedding reception last year a magical event.
Well now, as an introduction to this whole new personal development and self-motivation site, I believe without a doubt that you are asking an apt question inside you such as “Why am I checking this site out?”

Sow a thought, and you reap an act;/ Sow an act, and you reap a habit;/ Sow a habit, and you reap a character;/ Sow a character, and you reap a destiny. - Charles Reader
We all know what habits are, don’t we? We know that habits are the things that we do repeatedly and over time they are done unconsciously. Habits are on autopilot. We know that habits can be good or bad, depending on what sort of outcome they lead us to. It has a tremendous impact on our lives as without habits we’d have to learn things all over again. (Do I turn the doorknob clockwise or counter clockwise? Hmmm…) That is why we have to be very careful about what habits to pick up. Habits can make or break us.

Failure – it’s such a strong emotional word. The very thought of it makes many people drop their shoulders and make them throw their hands up in the air even before they’ve started to embark on reaching their dreams. They’ve let failure get in the way. The thought of failing is one heck of a dream killer. Yes, that’s how most of us perceive failure – the death of a dream. Those who tried but “failed” never had the strength enough to bounce back and permanently acknowledged their defeat.
But is failure really the death or the end of a dream? If only we could get to the bottom of what failure really is and how we must perceive it we could instantly bounce back and bring our dreams back to life! What is failure then?

“Dad, can I talk to you about something really important?”
“Go right ahead. I’m listening,” (fidgets with his new cool phone, trying to figure out his way through the menus, eyes intently on the screen).
“It’s about my grades…”
“What did you do this time?! Do you realize how…”
“Dad, I haven’t said anything yet. My grades are fine except for one that really needs work. Do you mind if I spend the night over at Ben’s with a couple of classmates to…”
“Slack it off while your grades are falling like the Dow did yesterday? We’ve just lost a significant amount of savings, part of which is your college fund and now you’re thinking of having a cool time with your good-for-nothing friends?!”
“Sigh!” (Looks at his dad’s phone) “Cool toy, must have cost you a fortune.”
“Huh? Oh, well, yeah! It’s cool. I can access the Internet and stuff. Makes me do a lot of things anytime, anywhere…yada! Yada! Yada…”
